Taking On The Director's Role |
Help and advice from existing members:
|
'Make sure you choose a team you trust and who are serious about devoting their time as you will end up spending a lot of time together! And finally, choose a show you are passionate about, it will make everything easier and reflect in all stages of the process from proposals to the final show!'

Hints for Directors:
-‘Make sure you have a clear rehearsal plan before each rehearsal, this will help keep rehearsals efficient and be far easier for you.’ -‘If you have made a clear rehearsal plan, it makes it easy to let the cast know when they are needed. Try to do this at least a few days, if not the week before, so that they know exactly when they need to be there.’ -‘Utilise your time well. Putting on a show in a term is not an easy task, so make sure you use each rehearsal well.’ -‘Know your script! Read it over a few times and know exactly where you want to go with it before you hold auditions.’ -‘Try to always be energetic and on the ball, that will help keep the cast enthusiastic.’ -‘A director should have fun with their cast and make them feel at ease around you but at the same time, don’t feel nervous to exercise your authority. It is not easy to work alongside friends but if you have moments of true professionalism, you can really have a personal and separate professional relationship with your cast.’ -‘Games at the beginning of rehearsal help people to relax and get used to working with each other.’ |
