Hedda has married an academic called Tesman. We meet them post-honeymoon in their new apartment as they begin married life. Hedda grapples with her dwindling sense of identity as, over the course of two days, some old friends and flames walk back into her life. These visitors find themselves getting drawn into Hedda’s schemes or making plots of their own
