Synopsis
Equus, written by Peter Shaffer, is a 1970s psychodrama that follows on the mental unravelling of a child psychiatrist - Martin Dysart. Alan Strang, a 17-year-old boy, has blinded 6 horses and refuses to tell anyone why. Against his better judgement, Martin Dysart takes on his case. Morbidly fascinated by Alan’s crime, Dysart adopts unconventional methods to open Alan’s psyche. To understand Alan, Dysart begins to destroy himself as those around him watch. If he truly wants to heal a monster, then Dysart must become one too.
